A Case of Ceruminous Adenoma Arising from the External Auditory Canal

Abstract

|
Ceruminous adenoma is a external auditory canal tumor of ceruminous gland origin. There are four distinct types of ceruminous gland tumors of the external auditory canal ; ceruminous adenoma, adenoid-cystic carcinoma, ceruminous adenocarcinoma,
and
pleomorphic adenoma. The natural course and clinical approach to these tumors can be determined by accurate histopathologic evaluation.
We experienced a case of 59-year old female patient who complained of hearing loss and the external auditory canal mass. Histopathologic investigation of the resected tumor showed typical features of ceruminous adenoma. We herein report a case of
ceruminous adenoma arising in the external auditory canal with brief literature review.
